Storyline Online is a great resource for teachers! Whether teaching in person or virtually- this is a site that you should be utilizing! The activity I am sharing with you this week goes with a book read by Sarah Silverman on Storyline Online. It is called A Tale of Two Beasts and it is written by Fiona Roberton. I have designed a few free activities to use with this book and am providing them in both a printable version and a Google Slides digital version.
This is a cute story to share that is perfect for a few different purposes.
1.) This story works really well to introduce perspective/point of view. The story is told in full from both the little girl’s perspective and then from the squirrel’s perspective. This lends itself so well to comparing the events in the story and how each character views those events. One of the activity pages designed to go with the story emphasizes this teaching point from the story.
2.) Another area of focus to use with this book is the idea that there are two sides to every story. Discussing this idea with students can help them learn to be more empathetic.
